World Nomads Haiti |FIAF

The FIAF announced the launch this May of the 2nd edition of the World Nomads series celebrating transculturalism. Following the highly successful inaugural season, World Nomads will focus on Haiti this year, bringing some of the most exciting examples of Haitian culture and art to New York through music, literature, cinema and visual arts. more|website

A great director often reaches a point towards the end of a long career when he works completely at his own pace. The work made in this period can be deceptively casual or slightly feverish, but is made with absolute assurance, often in defiance of stylistic and structural norms. These films can be among the most complex and interesting in a body of work, often approaching signature themes from new angles, as illustrated in this series of late films by master directors.

For “Younger Than Jesus,” the first edition of “The Generational,” fifty artists whose five of them are French will be presented. Six New York City public schools are seeking to recruit certified teachers of French for their French-English Dual Language Programs.|website
French Bilingual Second Grade Teacher
PS 58, the Carroll School, in Brooklyn, is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic second grade teacher to teach the French component of a side-by-side dual language program. The teacher will work in close collaboration with the English component teacher. S/he will be responsible for teaching reading, writing, and social studies in French to a mixed group of native French speakers and French language learners. In addition, the teacher will plan with the dual language team on a weekly basis.
Qualifications needed:
- 3 years minimum teaching experience in an elementary school setting
- Fluency in written and spoken French
- Experience living and working in a Francophone country
- Knowledge of balanced literacy
- Strong collaborative teaching skills
- Experience writing and developing curricula using a project-based learning approach
- Knowledge of ESL, FSL, bilingual education or second language acquisition
- US citizenship or Green Card
