This non-profit society was founded in 1883 by the Reverend
Alfred Wittweyer, rector of the Eglise Francaise in New
York, to promote religious freedom and to perpetuate the
memory of the French Huguenots who has fled their countries
to escape persecutions and settled in the United States.
This is a national association, in which are registered
more or less 400 people, 270 in New York.
To become a member you have to be recommended and have Huguenot
ancestors, and of course to be able to prove your genealogy.
This society is known for its very famous library, in which
one can find various among of rare and precious books, and
which is opened to the public.
It also allocates scholarships each year to 22 students,
whom ancestors are Huguenots.
The further objectives of this society are to preserve the
library and to acquire more books related to the Huguenot
history, and to organize more conferences.
